“Art to me, whether you’re creating or observing, is one of the many ways to distract yourself in life, not to say from death.
Well I said it, but it’s not as negative as you may think.
Because it is also what living people will get to see of me while I’m not here anymore.
But until then, I wish to gather more people than I could embrace in a lifespan into my world of art.
To make a contemplator think or daydream, in front of heads and faces that he has never met before, since I do not draw relatives nor famous persons. At least not on purpose, and neither in a photorealism way that I escaped from trying to reproduce thanks to inspirations such as George Brown (my father), Reiser, Basquiat and Picasso.
I prefer to inspire myself from our reality (the one experienced by human beings), which we’re stuck with, to paint my own and make it part of everyone’s.
Starting most of my artpieces by drawing an eye and each time directly using a marker, represents the unchangeable past that often leads you to hide errors. Or either leave them for all to see, as an example that carries its own beauty and message that we humans tend to always forget.
My art is stories that I fail to put in words.Art to me is a life style. I do it for the fun of it and it’s my way to express myself. I would say my art is mainly about black culture. I usually show out black beauty and about the black culture most of the times in my art, and as well as black people struggles whether in Africa , America and around the world.some of my artworks have deep meaning and stories behind them some others are just for fun I would say just for showing out beauty, whatever I find beautiful and empowering to me. I have been privileged to live around different African countries like Rwanda my country , Kenya, Uganda, Senegal , Mali, Niger, Burundi, etc… and that inspires my art to be more about black culture and black beauty the art and mainly intended to give a feeling, uplift and inspire anyone can relate to it .”
“I make all kinds of paintings but I like making surreal portraits the most. I’ve always liked portraits because I think humans are the most interesting subjects and surrealism because it’s the most freeing kind of art. There are almost no rules.
Art to me is having an idea and expressing it in anyway you can. And I try to do just that every time I make something.”
“Art is an opportunity. An opportunity to meet, bond with like-minded people, creating an artist community that you feel belonged and wanted.
It is a chance to be brave, to get out into the world, explore, ask questions. To do whatever it is you have not thought you were able to do before. The feelings that follow after you have accomplished a piece of work, or an idea, is truly incredible. It is this feeling that seduces me back. How satisfied I am after I have created something that I am proud of, and know that it will have an impact on other people.
Art is an opportunity to escape from all the chaos, enter your own fantasy, be free. It can also be way to learn about yourself, reveal your norms, values, what you believe is important, and what kind of message you want to spread to the world. “
I believe there are two types of artists in this world, those who draw from observation and those who create new art from imagination. I like to think of myself as the fusion of both.
“I am a 20yr old art student at Chinhoyi University of Technology. My art is basically afrocentric portraits but i sometimes venture into figures and other abstract things.”

About the Artist:
“Being a product of the ultimate creator, I believe art in all its forms is as fundamental in its essence as water, air, life. Whatever form of expression one takes to tell their story is art. My art tells a story of what I see and think. The landscapes lived in and explored thru oils. Life is my inspiration.”
“The artist’s Idea process is influenced by personal experiences and feelings and memories communicated such as narratives which acknowledge and address issues of ones identity ,the misrepresentation ,oppression and objectification experienced by women of colour and the intersectionality in these issues hope to awaken a critical conscious.”
“art is simply the way of life; an alternate reality that we, as visionaries, tend to create to express different ideas or give an impression of how we feel. There is no right or wrong, it’s us creating what we see be it from direct observation or using our imagination to tell abstract stories.
My work ranges from a series of pen drawings, acrylic and oil paintings, watercolor, and graphite. I have currently been focusing on pen drawings where I’ve been developing and growing understanding different techniques whilst creating work that resembles my ideas. Most of my ideas come from my subconscious where it usually begins with random doodles that then end up shaping different compositions which result in the final outcome. this is when the art creates a dialogue with its master.”
“To me art is a means of escape from reality. It draws me into another dimension in which I can naturally express myself through the visual elements of line, tone, color, texture and form. It has been an incredible driving force in my life influencing almost everything I do and the way in which I see the world.”
